Google has always had a dominating share of the internet marketing world, and their Android OS is poised to give them a new angle with which to take on mobile phones as well. Mobile advertising firm AdMob cites 27% of its add requests coming from Android powered devices, a 7% increase from last year.

On the mobile apps front, Android's store already boasts 20,000+ apps, and they are aiming to hit almost 75,000 by 2011, which would put them in striking distance of the current mobile app leader, Apple.

Until then, mobile phone news sites will be hounding both Google and Apple to see who takes the next step in this race to the finish.
